Os Noctambulos : You Walked Away
Paris based Os Noctambulos have released a new album “Silence Kills”. It’s jangly guitars drenched in reverb and hypnotic tambo touch just perfectly. One of their songs from the album ‘You Walked Away’ is worthy of your attention. Lead singer Nick Wheeldon has another favorite band of mine called 39th and the Nortons, which is also worthy of your time. Check out here.
The 1980’s ushered in a 60’s psychedelic revival in which a small handful of bands, especially from Los Angeles, built a grassroots scene and sound that bounced off Arthur Lee & Love and The Byrds satellites. During the decade, Roger McGuinn square sunglasses were flying off the shelf. The Bomp Records label was especially key in pushing the sound globally beyond the shows at local haunts Paladinos and Madame Wongs.
As the 90’s blew in… we saw UK bands like Thee Hypnotics, The House of Love, Primal Scream, and Ned’s Atomic Dustbin blend psychedelic, grimy drum and bass, and higher octane rock n roll into the mix. In the late 90’s/early 2000’s Brian Jonestown Massacre, Outrageous Cherry, and The Green Pajamas carried the torch once again and pushed the narrative down the road. The past decade+ saw bands like Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, The Black Angels, Temples, and Os Noctambulos emerge and stay true to the craft and continue to turn up the volume in search of ears.
